GIRESD is a member of the Middle Michigan Network for Educational Telecommunications (MMNET). MMNET is a consortium of nine school districts, who collectively own and operate various communication equipment and services, including a high capacity fiber optic network stretching throughout mid-Michigan. Consortium members cooperatively share their resources for the ownership, financing, administration, and operation of MMNET. The high capacity MMNET network significantly improves the delivery of Internet, instructional, and administrative resources while reducing costs to participating members.
GIRESD purchased network, internet, and fiber optic equipment using funds from the MMNET Fund and Cooperative Education Fund in the amount of $39,398 during 2011-12.
