My Michigan Health is putting on a Health, Safety, and Back to School Fair called Project Connect. Parents and children will be able to visit local vendor booths and tour emergency response vehicles. Backpacks and socks for children will be available first come , first serve.
Project Connect is Wednesday August 14th from 4-6. pm at the Gratiot County Fair For Youth Fairgrounds.

Dedicated teachers from across the MiSTEM Region spent 4 days learning to support their students in developing deep understanding of early addition and subtraction. The AVMR 1 course was facilitated by Math Recovery Champions Shelly Spayd, CGRESD, and Brad Thornburgh, GIRESD.


Educators from Gratiot and Isabella Counties toured Alma Tire Companies, CMU Athletics, and Konwinski Construction yesterday. The Educator to Industry Tour allows educators to learn more about local employers through on-site visits and presentations at local businesses. All three businesses gave extensive tours of their facilities, which allowed educators to gain perspective on how to connect their classroom content standards to real world applications and business practices so that students have a better sense of the connection from school to work.

Forest Hill Nature Area is hosting "Backyard Birding" days here on July 24th, 31st and August 7th. Backyard Birding will connect people to the birds commonly found in Central Michigan during the summer season and will include bird banding demonstrations as well as bird crafts and activities from 9-10:30am. "Backyard Birding" is free and open to the public. In the event of rain, the Backyard Birding will be canceled.
On Saturdays in July (except the 20th), we will host bird hikes with ornithologist Mike Bishop from 8-9am. Our Saturday bird hikes are for beginners to advanced and binoculars are available for use - free and open to all! Rain or shine!
