Congratulations to the students in Ashley Bontrager's class! They are the 1st place winners of the REMC Podcast Challenge. The students from Fulton High School created: “From Students For Students – Suicide Prevention,” a powerful, student-led podcast created for National Suicide Prevention Month. Through honest conversation and peer-to-peer storytelling, these students are helping break the stigma and remind others they are not alone.

The headline reads “Podcast Challenge Winner.” First Place is awarded to the podcast titled “From Students For Students – Suicide Prevention.” The graphic lists student creators with teacher Mrs. Ashlyn Bontrager from Fulton High School. The background is dark blue with a network-style design, featuring a large microphone illustration on the left and a photo of a student wearing headphones and speaking into a microphone on the right. Logos for REMC Association of Michigan, MASL, and MACUL appear at the bottom.

State of Student Summit

Adaptive PE Educator Cheryl Evers and PE/Health Consultant Josh Boutwell were able to represent GIRESD at the 2025 SHAPE Michigan Annual State Convention. There were lots of great presenters covering content on Adaptive PE, Health, and Physical Education. Cheryl and Josh also were awarded class sets of pedometers from the convention's raffle. The class sets will be able to be checked out by local educators. Josh also represented GIRESD in being the SHAPE Michigan Northeast Region 5 Coordinator.

GIRESD Behavioral Health Coordinator Tracey Galgoci, in collaboration with the Instructional Team, launched a brand-new Student Leadership Community this year!

Two outstanding 8th–12th grade students from every school in our region were selected by their principals to represent their district.
