Joe Trommater, REMC 5 Director, recently shared some of the REMC tools and games available for checkout in Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, and Isabella Counties with local teachers. They got to use the Makey Makey, Edison Robots, Labdiscs, tabletop games, and much more during that time. If you are interested in an opportunity like this, contact Joe Trommater! The students in our GIRESD Leadership Community are doing more than just preparing for the future—they are actively shaping it. Recently, our group has focused on cultivating the skills necessary to become impactful, productive adults.
Through collaborative brainstorming and passionate discussion, they’ve tackled three big questions:
What essential skills are today’s students currently lacking?
How can schools create more intentional opportunities to build those skills?
How can students use their voices to advocate for positive change?
This group is insightful, driven, and eager to bring these conversations back to their local districts. We couldn't be prouder of their commitment to making a difference!

Students in Mrs. Russell's elementary MiCI classroom combined speech and language therapy with science! Using the book, "Sneezy the Snowman," for inspiration, SLP Aubree Gregory made indoor snow using baking soda and shaving cream. Students built their own snowmen and then used vinegar to make them melt - just like Sneezy!
