Our Health and PE consultant, Josh Boutwell, had a table at the Hope in the Park event at Wright Park in Alma on September 10th. Hope in the Park was a free family event spreading HOPE on World Suicide Prevention Day. Josh provided families with free jump ropes and water while promoting physical activity in the household. Physical activity has so many benefits to our mind and bodies. Families could sign up for a FREE physical activity program InPACT at Home. InPACT provides health information on various topics and a variety of physical activity videos that the families can do together or with their friends. Here is a link to their website for more information: https://inpactathome.umich.edu/ #GIRESDSupportingCommunity

Many times students come to Forest Hill Nature Area and other times FHNA comes to students! Students get a chance to tag monarchs and learn how this citizen project helps scientists understand the great migration of these small insects. The RESD supports students in many different ways!

Josh Boutwell and Kiley Kochensparger promoted physical activity in the household for the families in Gratiot County at Project Connect, the Health and Safety Back to School Fair. Physical activity has many benefits for adults and children. The event took place on August 14th at the Gratiot County Fair for Youth. Each child received a jump rope and other gifts to take home with them. The kids participated in a jump rope contest to see how many jumps they can do in a minute. Promoted was InPACT at Home, a free evidence and home based program that enables K-12 students to engage in health enhancing physical activity with their families. https://inpactathome.umich.edu/ Also, the American Heart Association's Kids Heart Challenge and American Heart Challenge raise awareness to help others, where students will make a real difference in the fight against heart disease and stroke. Families are able to learn Hands-Only CPR through the American Heart Challenge initiative. https://www2.heart.org/site/SPageServer?pagename=khc_resources_educational
